Hints n tips needed
Hi All
Been ripping my hair out all afternoon trying to get the front quarter window panels to seat far enough into the corners so I can then mount the vertical metal guide frame for the leading edge of the main window panel. Have I managed it? Have I chuff! I just can seem to be able to get it to seat properly (which I think is further complicated by the chrome strips that go around the edge.
Ive trawled for handy hints with various search options but to no avail.
Can anyone help.
Also. I need to know what the fitting arrangement look like for the back edge of the main winding window panel, Ive found a guide piece that looks like bolts go through it to connect to the glass but I can find the right bits to do it with. As anyone got a photo of this they can share with me. The car originally arrived as a part stripped project so I suspecting some nuts, bolts n spacers have gone AWOL.
Thanks in advance
Steve

I'm in the same situation, I dismantled a donor door as I'm getting them painted, it took me flippin hours to do 1 door! The black guide that hold the quarter window in was especially hard to get out of the door skin. I definatly dont want to scratch fresh paint when reassembling the donor doors.
What I need is an order to reassemble a whole door. Anyway heres what the bently manual says:

the cabrio has a specific metal trim on chrome or painted black that goes all round the door, its in 2 J shaped pieces smaller one that runs from top of door to near the dront corner, then another piece from there that runs to the rear of the door. theres a little filler strip that fills the gap between them as well
you need to make sure the quarterlight seals are the correct type, they must be designed for the metal trims. you'll note they are sided, they have a thicker bit that fills the gap on the inside, the outside is thinner so it can slot into the metal outer strip
oh and the outer door seal there are 2 versions, the earlier one doesnt finish so neatly to the metal strip, the later one looks much neater. also its a bit longer at the top of the door to make a better seal to the roof. you can fit either type to any age mk1, but go for the later ones if you can

there's always time for lubrication!
if it was flushed out or only small amount then tbh you'll be ok, but try not to risk it in future. when i removed my rear quarters in my mk2 there was a fair amount of water still trapped in the seal, even though it had been in a garage for months! imagine if that water also had salt in it

Hi, I always use a bit of WD40 as it won't cause any problems. It helps the rubber slide in easier, sometime with 1/4 lights light tapping on the rubber seal with a mallet seems to help it go in the last bit.

Sorry to re-open this old post, but I'm about to tackle this in my Cabriolet and will capture some pictures of how I tackle it.
After years of looking I managed to come across some clear glass quarters to match my Rivage with good condition seals.
Thanks for posting the Bentley manual scan

Well that was a lot harder than I suspected, seems the 1992 Rivage has a straight through window guide!
So ended up having to get the Grinder out and chop it to still secure the window lower down the door.
Only did the drivers side for now, do the other when I can pluck up some motivation - took me a good 3 hours to complete, but also treated some rust whilst I was at it.
