Engine Paint

I bought a can of enamel engine paint from halfords last night and was planning to give my engine a coat tonight, has anyone used this before?
I will let you guys know how i get on….

Sorry, not used that particular paint before, but I'm sure it'll be OK. Try a bit out on a bit of metal first to see how it goes on.

I used Hammerite on the top of my golfs engine, the fan cowling and the cambelt cover. Dispite people telling me it would flake off, or not withstand the heat it seems to be OK 4 months down the line.  

I did a little bit at lunchtime and it seems alright, will finish it after work today. If it gives a good finish i might use it on the sump and the rocker cover too.
They also has red & yellow enamel paint as well but i thought i should just stick with the satin black.. might have clashed with the Lhasa green paintwork  

The halfords stuff went on quite well and there is loads left. Looks not bad when it is finished too. Enamel paint sure knackers you paintbrush though  

lol i got some good sites for paint brushes , i bought spray from halfords to spray my back pannels, after 4 months the paint still aint dryed  ops: i will get around to fixing it lol, what did you paint on the engine?

Just the block, might also use it for the rocker cover. I have a new sump so might also give that another coat as well.

I have used the Halfords stuff too. I did 2 coats on my block, works a treat  

Does anyone know where I can get colour coded (ie matched to my paint code) enamel paint suitable for engine blocks?

OK, with much difficulty I found someone who is prepared to do custom engine enamel. I have a doubt over the heat resistance though. What is the maximum temp it should withstand (especially near exhaust)?
