engine bay refit
I've just sent off my brake bar (bit that goes from pedals to master cylinder, runs along the bulkhead) to be powder coated. When I removed it I noticed that the box had some sort of black silicone sealant around it. Does anyone know what this is and why its done??

Yes its just black sealent - most hardware stores have it - doesn't have to be black - clear or white or brown or what ever colour you can get will do - it keeps the water from getting in around the three bolts and ultimatley rusting the panel behind it.

Halfords do a black windscreen sealant, which I've found quite useful as quick drying and waterproof
