EARLY DOORS?

hi guys can anyone help im restoing a 76' swallotail golf and it needs a new driver side door, i've been told that the hinges changed on the 77/78' models. Can the hinges on a later door be modded to fit my car? does anyone have a rot free early door? kind regards Gurv

Without some serious mods to the door you cannot fit the later door to an early car as the locks are also different size with different mounting points. Depending how rotten the door is it maybe worth repairing it.
