Door lock

I bought a replacement door handle from VW as mine was broken, i was careful to remove the lock from my old handle and insert it into the new handle the way it came out but now i cant lock the door (wont turn) and i cant push the door pin down from the inside, anyone any ideas what to do? :dontknow:

It's a while since I changed one but think simple case of engaging the mechanism for the lock pin as you insert the handle? :dontknow:

Prob doesn't help you much but I would take handle off again and have another look inside, I'm sure it was easy to do if I recall.

trouble is the lock wont turn even before its put on the car
