Cylinderhead gasket dilemma..
hi guys!
i`m makeing engine restoration now.this are only some cosmetic works like crank and covers painting, zinc plating..changeing all sealers.
But i have big dilemma what to do with cylinderhead gasket
All is ok,no leaks and engine have only 85 000 km from new and gasket is factory one….so what to do..change it or leave it in peace??
fact is that this gasket is 23 years old now so… all is posible.
What you think about that???

Remember, VW made the last car in 1992. After that they started making vehicles.

Hi I would change it mate. I would put a steel head gasket on as they are more reliable than the composite type.
I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday
