Where to position the rear view mirror in my Rivage

Hi–so this is admittedly a bit of an odd question…

I've had my Rivage about 5 months now and I've been gradually restoring/replacing the worn out interior/exterior trims bits with new ones.  When I bought the car it had an aftermarket rear view mirror.  I am now ready to fit a newly purchased original mirror but want to ensure I put it in the correct place.  So, my question is could someone tell me what the gap is from the top of the windscreen to the top of the mirror mounting plate is please.  (I'm assuming left-to-right on the windscreen it should go dead centre).

Many thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt,

Unfortunately don't have an answer for you as I am in the same predicament but less the mirror.
Where did you manage to pick up the original mirror?

Best Regards

Mike

Wow–a post I can answer! Finally, I'm giving something back!

I've been using a guy in Greece for a lot of my parts, including the mirror (please no one tell me that it's really dodgy and my car will fall apart imminently!). It's new and boxed etc. Here's a link to his ebay shop: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/NK-AUTOMOTIVE (the mirror wasn't on his shop–I asked him to get it)

He sourced the mirror and sent it as soon as I was ready. He's also good with returns too, but the inbound Greece postal system isn't quite as efficient as ours so items can take a while to reach him (and I always send registered).   I got the mounting plate from GPC (also on ebay): http://stores.ebay.co.uk/GPC-VW-AUDI-PARTS-01462-768500

I've just asked Nick at NK to get me a Cab fuel cap, which he's doing.  I reckon he can pretty much get anything, somehow.

Hope that helps.

Matt

I've managed to source an original one from Ebay £15. Although not through Nick.
Thanks for your help Matt, I will certainly be using him in future.

Now just need to know exactly where to mount!

Hi Matt
mine is 25mm below windscreen rubber and central, bracket would need to be lower to achieve this gap.

Cheers
