Bonnet latch

My bonnet has started to pop open when going over bumps! i ave took the grille off and had a look and have come to the conclusion that the spring which holds the locking mechanism in place is corroded and lost its spring…


Is it worth putting in a sprin i might find lying around or replace the whole mechanism?

Anyone got a spring from a golf going spare?!
