Bodywork/Paint question

Right then, I've nearly finished the underside of project 'ELRY', just a few patches to weld in and then re primer/seam seal/stonechip/underseal.

Pleased to say only found 3 areas of corrosion on the whole underside, having ground it all back to bare metal! Not bad for 25 years and 219k miles! (although it has had new cills lol)

Anyway, my question is that I now need to get the thing closer to paint, its a bare shell atm. How is best to attack the old paint currently on it? Its pretty thick in places as its been blown over and the cills were cut into the lower section of the rear quarters.

Nitromors all the old paint off or just sand it back to old primer?

I would ask the painter what prep work he would like . If you are doing it your self my man in the trade would never strip sound paint back to bare metal , just prep it ready for primer , da sander  .

Ah right cool cheers mate, I just didnt want an uneven finish with some areas having a thicker covering of pain than others. Not got a lot of experience with paint so its all new to me!

Got a quote for around the 2k mark from Timski on here, his works looks the dogs danglies and from talking to him a while ago he's not in the habit of doing a 'that'll do' job.

I did think about painting it myself but Im told black is tricky?

Yup from what I can remember reading once... black is one of the hardest colours to get perfect, as any imperfections in the paint can be seen in the mirror finish.
