VW vs GSF Sump gasket

Right this problem is still bugging me big time. Put a GSF gasket on not so long ago, still leaked. Oil out, sump off gasket and sealer then back on, and it still drips.

IS the VW gasket any different GSF was like a paper type one. I know the rocker gasket from vw was a nice rubber one as opposed to cork so wandering whether there is a big difference on the sump one. Really would like to stop the drip.

Cheers

How much are these??

Looks like its going to be oil out, sump off and back in etc etc. Just changed the oil the other week as well would have been much easier to do then. Bummer.

Will hopefully get this done then in the next couple of weeks.

I got one for a Fiver on ebay (I was lucky) :D It's the same construction as the VW rocker cover gasket you put on.

Guessing it won't be too expensive, just a pain to drain the oil catch it and put it back in again without throwing half of it over me garage floor. :?

Right been and got one, was ?21  8O  anyway just a quick question. Next to the bolt holes are also some other smaller holes.  :dontknow:  I'm hoping the oil ain't going to come out of these, did express my concern and also went to speak to the VW techincian there who sad they would be alright. Did yours have these in.

LEt me know please.

Thats what I like to here sneak.

Mechanic said there there to hold on the jig that makes them but I'm thinking he's made that up although not sure of the answer.

They also tried to sell me 20 more bolts but surely the originals that are in there now will be alright.

Your old bolts will be fine, just dont overtighten the bolts, if possible do them all up finger tight then go over it with a torque wrench set to the correct torque (haynes will list it) in a diagonal sequence, fitted 3 sumps in the last few weeks   none leaked btw!

One slight problem ain't got a torque wrench that goes as low as there supposed to be. Think if I remember correctly its somewhere around the 7nm mark.

Cheers for the info though, half thinking I might leave it until after christmas and I hope I get some cash to buy a low range torque from Halfords.
