Revving bad, Not starting well hot, Lumpy, high fuel use.

Car wont rev hard, or actually hardly after about 5, or 4.5k ish.
Lumpy when starts from warm cold is ok. if it starts, sometimes revs drop off end it dies and have to start again.
?10 seems to last about 40miles, but then again this is town driving i suppose.
engine is the 2L 8v. shouldnt b that bad at revving?
