Require a engine code for a 1600 GTI engine

Hi
  I am doing a mod to my mk2 16v to remove the heat exchanger and make it more like the mk1 GTI oil cooler setup as such i am trying to buy the hose that goes from the top water pump pipe to the head link pipe.

So can anyone give me a engine code ? then i can get the dealer to order the part cheers ..

I used to have one of these 1600 solid lifter engines and i am sure the pipe will be the one i am after

Its part number you need, rather than engine number. Perhaps talk to your VW parts man anyway as may sort for you without it if he knows his MK1 stuff! :wink:

You are thinking of the hose for an EG code 1.6 injection engine (though the carb hoses are the same). However the hose might not fit properly (too short) as the outlet on a EG head is between cylinders 1 and 2 whereas on a 16V it is between cylinders 2 and 3. If a VW hose does not fit Samco do universal lengths and bends.
