No Spark
Hi
I'm a newby to this site. I own a mk1 golf 1.8gti 1983, bought last october. It has been garaged for the last 12 years and I have done numerous jobs since ownership. This time round when I was driving the car it just cut out, pulled over and the engine just turned over. got an auto electrician out and he recommended I replaced the ignition amplifier which I have done which hasn't fixed the problem.
He now tells me I have to replace the distributor. Can anyone recommend what distibutor I can use as I cannot seem to find a mk1 distributor out there.
Many thanks

Most motor factors should have a dizzy. I got mine from the local people here.
surely euro car parts or GSF should have them in stock.
ps paid members get discounts from these suppliers to, so if your looking for a few bits the membership tends to pay for it's self.

have a look here.
A dizzy bcap it's self is about £7.00
distribuotor £202.00 gulp
http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/distributor/p/home
GSF only seem to do the cap at £6.00
So it depends on what your after.
plus euro offer up to 25% off for paid members. Not sure what they would apply for a £200 distributor though, but if it was 25% that's over £50.00 off so even paying the membership fee you potentially have enough for a fish and chip supper and a can of tizer lol.

The auto electrician says the electro has gone in the distibutor so its not sending the current back to the coil so the whole thing needs replacing. been on ebay but they only seem to have new mk2 dizzy's.
