More starting problems

Right, I've posted a few threads in the electrics section on here about my 1982 1.6 GTI so forgive me if you've read some of this before but here goes…..
Got the car last weekend, got about 40 miles from the guys house and the car cut out. Bump started it and it drove about 100 yards then cut out again.
Couldn't get it going so i phoned the bloke i got it off cos he had told me if it cuts out play with the blue plug on the back of the fusebox. Did this nothing happened apart from the light on the dash for the immobiliser flashed differently. Phoned breakdown they came he prodded it a bit but still nothing
 :dontknow:
Got home bumped it again drove about 3 yards!  :cry:
I've tried to bypass the alarm/immobiliser but its a complicated install (cat 1 Laserline everything goes to one box, wires everywhere and no diagrams!)
It's got a new coil and a new dizzy. and a new fusebox.
But I wasn't getting power to the coil so I'm guessing thats what the immobiliser is doing?
Anyway, this is how it stands at the minute:
- Power to the coil (taken directly from battery)
- Fuel pump works (I have made a switch to bypass the relay)
- Fuel to injectors (done the injector test)
- and i've got a spark!
What else could it be?
 :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
It's got a new coil and a new dizzy. and a new fusebox.
The cambelt hasn't snapped and there's plenty of petrol in it.
I'm completely stumped.
Any suggestions people?
 :dontknow:
I've only driven it once it's not fair  :cry:  :cry:  :cry:

Could be:

* Ignition timing wildly out
* Mixture too rich (likely if you've been churning the car trying to start it, or if you have leaky injectors)
* Mixture too lean
* Loss of compression, possibly due to being flooded with fuel and washing away the oil which helps seal the piston in the cylinder.
* Loss of compression due to normal wear, never helps starting

I'll have to get those checked out.
I'm gonna have to call for back up though (my dad's a mechanic)
How do I test each of the things?

Cheers

Ok so i bumped started it again last night ran for a few seconds then cut out so it must be a fuel problem, but how come i have fuel spraying out of my injectors and still no bang? :dontknow:

the spark isn't blue, is that normal? it's a yellowy colour?

cheers yet again
