Running Problems
I recently got hold of a 1985 GTI 1.8 DX cabby, it runs with a judders mainly around 2000 revs and gets worse when hot and difficult to start
. I have read many threads on this and some of them point to the injectors.
So I pulled out a couple of them today to check the seals, seals are fine but it seems there are two different types in there.

I found one of the top one and one of the second one down in the pics? Is this right ????
Sorry if this is a stupid question???!!!?!? I put them back in and the one in the middle feels a bit loose as you can move it a little form side to side

If you have no hose you need the early type.
Have a look and let us know what type of head you have.
It is possible for the end, "top hat" to fall off into the head, they should no cause any major problem as they are rattling around above the valves and there's not enough gap for them to fall any further, you have to remove the exhaust manifold or inlet manifold to get them out.
If the injectors are a little lose it may be worth replacing the seals.

I have taken some pics ( bad ones ) there is a pipe coming out near the 3rd injector to the right. It seems seems to run a little better since messing with it.
I did replace the seal on the far left one, the one that does move a bit ( missing the hat ) . I didn't know if that was because the hat had come off?
Would it hurt to leave that hat thing in there? would it not have a effect on

The 'before' shot. There are two types and the older longer ones are the correct ones.

These were the replacements for my 1984 DX engine with part numbe.
