MK1 89GTI CABRIO CUTTING OUT IN TRAFFIC

CAN ANYBODY HELP?.I AM THE PROUD OWNER OF A MK1 GTI CAB WHICH I HAVE HAD FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS,WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT LOOKS LIKE THE PROBLEMS COME FREE!.IT RUNS VERY WELL STARTS FIRST TIME,NO BANGS OR CLUNKS,HOWEVER WHEN IT IS WARMED UP & IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IT WILL CUT OUT AS IF IT HAS OVER HEATED,LEAVE IT 5MINS THEN IT WILL RESTART,IT ONLY DOES IT IN TRAFFIC.THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS READING JUST OVER HALFWAY,THE OIL TEMP IS APPROX 90 DEGREES.THE FAN IS WORKING,I HAVE FITTED A NEW THERMOSTAT & FAN SENSOR.THE ONE THING I DO NOTICE IS THE FUEL PUMP BECOMES NOISIER,COULD THIS BE THE PROBLEM?,I HAVE ALSO CHECKED THE UPLIFT PUMP FILTER IN THE TANK & THIS IS FINE.PLEASE,PLEASE CAN ANYBODY HELP?    DAZ

could be warmup reg, fuel filter clogged filter in end of pump clogged any no of things.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     I HAVE JUST ORDERED MY HAYNES MANUAL TO HELP ME FAMILIARISE MY SELF WITH THE CAR,IVE HAD THE PUMP OFF & THE LITTLE FILTER INSIDE WAS CLEAR,WHERE IS THE WARM UP REG,THANKS DAZ

on the front of the block by the side of the oil filter, with the 2fuel lines to the airbox. :mrgreen:
