Misfire and Lumpy Idle
I posted a link sometime ago ragarding my 1800 campaign having a misfire when the engine was neither warm nor cold.
From cold she'll run fine, when the engine has been left to cool, say for an hour or so and I start her again the engine runs rough.
The car has been in to the garage on Tuesday, the whipped the injectors out and cleaned them and sorted the emissions too, the engine then seemed to run a lot smoother but the problem with the rough has reoccured.
Any ideas??

The garage tested them and said they were working fine?? Checked the spray pattern etc.
If it was injectors would I not get the problem all the time??
Cheers

(What happens is, when the engine is cold, any leak has already leaked into the cylinders and seeped down into the oil, the system pressure has dropped off and there's no fuel in the cylinders to make it start/run rough. When its just been turned off, not enough time has elapsed for the leak to affect the startup).

The garage said the injector for no.4 cylinders spray pattern was poor, they also said no.4 plug was very wet, so you'd think injector.
The lump idle can stay for about 5mins or so after starting from warm, would this still happen if it was the injector??? maybe its not vaporising the fuel properly??

Will try some new HT leads and then look at the injectors if the problem persists!

The car has new plugs fitted so hopefully this will sort it???
Just a quick update, the car has now started to misfire all the time very slightly whilst the rev's are low, will have to wait for the parts to arrive and keep those fingers crossed!!!

I cant believe they've stopped making them. Maybe the genuine ones have been stopped but I'm sure tey should have been able to supply Quantum ones. Anyway, the Bosch ones should be great!
If the leads are breaking down you might be able to see sparks arching if you take a look in the engine bay at night while the engine's running.

My Bosch leads never transpired, they had ordered the wrong ones! So I decided to order a set of Magnecor 8.5mm Leads (had these on my MX5 and really noticed a difference). The only problem is they are mail order so having to put up with the misfire which is now constant when below about 2000rpm.
I have checked under the bonnet at night, cant see any sparks but get this is no guarantee that they are OK.
I'll wait patiently for the new ones to arrive!!!!!
