INJECTORS

Sorry if this query has already been posted but here goes ..we are in need of a set of injectors so have been pricing them up about £50 a pop ..but i just need to check that the ones a gfs say are the correct ones ..theres a used set on ebay that have 2 seals the large at the top and small at the bottom ..on the gfs site the injector doesnt have a bottom seal ..so is this another part to be found ?? we havent the old ones to compare coz loads of bits where missing on the engine when we bought it

See if you can get hold of Rubyjonny as there are two different sizes dependent on engine. seen this come up before but can't remember what was what. Will need to let him know engine code, if its a 1.8 could be a DX.

aye early ones are coarse thread, later ones are fine thread. if you have coarse thread you can get merc brass ones for around £25 each off ebay. if fine thread then you can only get the expensive ones.

there are 2 shapes as well early ones with a single seal and late with double seals, both fit each other the extra seal is for the air shrouding. you can pull the end seal off if your car doesnt have air shrouding, and you can fit early type if the car does have air shrouding. makes next to no difference anyway. you can tell what type your car is by looking on the back of the head, if there is an extra vacuum port between cylinders 3 and 4 thats for the air shrouding. you can just cap it off to disable it no matter what type of injectors you fit.

the fuel lines are interchangeable also, early lines fit late car and vice versa so you can just change lines to suit whatever injectors you get

Thanx for the info about the merc ones ..ive just ordered 4
we have just got the block back into the car and its rebuilding time !!
at last it seems like were getting somewhere ,would post pic of the progress but not sure how that works lol

For the pics, get a photobucket account (doesnt cost anything) upload your photo's there and then when you hover the mouse over pic or on the right hand side you will get some options come up, what you need to do is click where it says img which will copy the pic and then just paste that in your message.
