ignition leads

Hi i have a problem finding HT leads for my 83 1.8 gti tin top. Problem is my coil to dizzy lead is a push in male connector, bit like a xmas tree bulb,white plastic end with a copper wire folded over each side, not a round pin type.
                        Question. Is mine old type or new type tech, do i just replace the coil and dizzy cap to change lead set?? Hope you guys can help

the later style ht connections have a pin in the centre of the coil & cap connectors, the early ones are just an open hole.  The late leads have a thin hole with a wire clip to grip the pin, the early type have a large open end connection on.

Cant mix & match, need to have all ign components the same. also the coils differ from electronic and contact breaker systems, so make sure thats the right one for your application also

What make of Dizzy cap do you recommend for the 1.8i dx engine ?
I have purchased a Motaquip cap and its rubbish . From experiance i know the carbon brush in the middle will simply break , far to much play

Are gsf or eurocarparts dizzy caps any good ?

GSF or AVS sell beru make caps, arms and leads which are spot on
ECP tend to be a bit on the expensive side I found, I prefer AVS as their website is much better than GSF, plus not run by muppets!
