GTi down pipe.
Question, would the Mk1 Gti down pipe fit on the mk2 flange?. There must be a 6 bolt version. Also are the gaskets the same?
I know the down pipe is well different from a Mk2. But hoping the the Mk1 downpipe will fit.
Thanks in advance

My '82 1600 GTI (EG Engine) has the six stud down pipe …ETKA also lists it for DX as well as the spring clip pipe. I would suspect the gasket is the same but the rest of the pipes may not mate up with what's left of your original system. Someone here will know for certain.
In any case you really should consider obtaining (from whence I know not) the original pattern heatshields else you could be cooking your steering rack/drive shaft gaiters, etc.
055 253 701 A and 055 253 701 B (not the same as your spring clip pipe)

They may be a pain to fit but at least you can still get heat shields easily from VW and the special tool for removing the C clips is only about ?25 from www.toolbay.biz.

One thing to keep in mind… I would not buy the Techtonics unit again because it does not have enough flex. You need flex or you will break those little studs and have a nice exhaust leak. My manifold is from a diesel, with the downpipe mentioned. I should have spent the little extra and bought real headers (no gasket in the middle = no leaks in the middle).
The stock unit with the C-clips is a joke of a design. You can notice the power difference between it and the dual down pipe manifolds pretty easily if you rev the motor fairly often.
