Fitting and Early K Jet head, to a late k jet block

hi peeps, i've fitted an early k jet head, to a late spec 8v k jet bottom end, as the later head had really badly worn waterways, and kept blowing head gaskets…..

However, what marks do i use to retime the head and bottom end??

The lower flywheel lines up with the pointer on the gearbox housing, whilst this is happening, the intermediate shaft dot lines up with the dot on the crank pulley?

However, at the head end, the later head has the OG dot on the outside of the cam pulley, which lines up with the og arrow on the inner cmashaft cover? But on an early head, the dot on the inside of the cam sprocket lines up with the gasket face on the head?

Do i just line the top end up as if it were on an early block, i.e inner dot to gasket face, and time bottom end to tdc?

the distance between insanity and genius is measured only by sucess....

It *should* time up exactly the same however, id first be looking to ensure that the timing dots on the back of the cam sprockets related to the cam positions, ie, both intake and exhaust valves on no1 cylinder should be on overlap with the valves closed.
The cams should look like a widened "V" shape if theyre in the overlap position btw.
