cutting out randomly!!!
My car is a joke!! For almost a year now i have had this problem and spent ?500 of garage bills and got no where!!!
My car cuts out randomly and then five mins later it starts again then…..5 miles down the road it cuts out again. I have a hunch that it maybe the fuel pump or fuel pump relay as most other things have been done to my knowledge. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also are fuel pumps and relays easy to find and fit??
Cheers
Dan

How about listing what has been done for that money you spent and then people can maybe suggest things that were overlooked? No reason to cover old ground if that part was replaced or found to be good.

Muck and water in tank from a rotten fuel filler?

ive check the tank and filler all seems perfect.
As far as all the work ill try and remember:-
Module
ht leads and new sparks + d/cap
new ignition switch
coil
other stuff was done as well that was under the ?500 but doesnt effect the engine work.

Guys, i dont know if this will help to solve my problem as well but i tryed starting my car this morning and eventually it started but, It took ages to start and a had to make several attempts. Basically It cranked and cranked and cranked, but no fire then when letting go of the key the car splurted and jumped into life then died again. So.. I tryed again but no luck even when i pumped the gas pedal a little…then once letting go of the key again the car jumped into life! 8O
Any ideas?

sounds like your ignition switch is bust! cheap part but can be tricky if you have a later car with the spline adaptor

Really!?!? But I had a new one fitted about 2 weeks ago bud??
Also another bit of information for you guys….
When i fill the car up with a full tank of fuel the car runs fine and will maybe only stop once or twice if that..but once it goes below half a tank the car starts to play up by doing its usual cutting out thing.

hmm ok, unless the new one is also duff maybe not. quick n dirty test is to run a wire to the coil +ve side direct from the battery, make sure it cant earth anywhere. maybe add an inline fuse to be on the safe side.
if it does the same thing its not the switch, if that sorts it then its the switch or the wiring.
another test you can do is hook up a timing light to each ht lead, if you see tyhat its sperking while the engien is turning over then that shows that there is at least a spark, though it wont show you how strong it is.
