Coolant lines??
Hi all..
I'm having trouble getting my head around my plumbing system… It's an AEB conversion..
The AEB pipes wouldn't suit transversly mounted so i bought AGU pipes which didn't suit the AEB engine.. apart from the engine end flange…
So as complicated as all that sounds.. My simple question is does this drawing look ok for the layout of the cooling system??
Couple pf points i've noticed..
1/ Expansion off the rad
2/ Expansion wil fill back to a Y on the bottom rad hose?? Is there a better place? its gona be abit tight down there anyway..
3/ Oil cooler returns back to bottom of engine junction/fitting
4/ The matrix, is it ok to take that side exit from the water pump through the matrix back to block or should it return straight to block and T off for matrix?? Where would the T's come from?
5/ The throttle body warm up just get blanked off?
6/ Is there anything i've missed or doesn't look right??
I think i've got abit of a visual in my head where to route it all but the side exit coming past the oil cooler might be a bit tight? Any pics or info would be much apreciated
Thanx Shaun

Hi Shaun, Im currently at this stage trying to get my head around it too mate, are you any more certain on your diagram above? How you planning on sourcing the pipes... trips filtering through scrap yards hose boxes?

Alright Jord, Funny enough I've just been to see a chap at a vag garage today who thinks the diagram looks ok.. so i'll be going with that kind of lay out, he said maybe try mk3 stuff?? but think it's going to be a case of trile and error.. I have heard about a laguna pipe for the bottom rad hose??…… Ahh.. sorry that relates to the AGU conversion from this thread Clicky and it was for the top hose! lol

Alright Shaun, in the drawing you havent included the plastic water housing inlet/outlet (unsure to exactly what it is), that sits at the side of the oil housing.
Any ideas on this buddy?

Yes mate thats the thing, I thought that was something to do with the cooling system. Im removing all the vac pipes, so would there just be a pipe from this into a catch tank? Ive read where some people have just put a small air filter on.
Cheers buddy!

Yea i'm only just getting my head round it to be fair.. basicaly a pipe from this T'd with a pipe from the cam cover to the catch tank, then vented or return to the TIP..
The cam cover on the AEB dosent have outlet though so straight to catch tank.. but not sure weather to drill for one?? Not sure if the AGU cam cover will go on??
I suppose you could just stick a filter on the end of it.. but guess oil and sludge would to soon clog it and start to drip?

How you getting on with the build Shaun, Ive had mine on the road for a couple of weekes and am experiencing a couple of problems which I think may be related to the system plumbing. Have you used the set-up above still? Cheers
