CO Adjustment Screw
Where is it located, Haynes don't say much about it. But put a Ram Filter in and could do with adjusting.
Do I turn clockwise or anti to adjust as there should be a bit more air getting through than the stock one.
Also do I need the special VW tool as suggested in haynes.

it is located on the air flap box between the metering head and air flap. May well have a plug above the screw. Drill the plug with a 2.5mm drill 3 to 4mm deep. use a self tapper to extract the plug
Clockwise for richer. Think it's a 3mm allen screw?
Use a gas analyser and also bring the revs up and down between adjustments to allow the mix to stabilise. Make sure you take the tool out each time you rev the engine!!!!

Doesn't clockwise lean it out? (less fuel)

"Turning the screw clockwise enriches the mixture" according to this site, can't rememeber where I got the link from but its got some stuff on the KJet:

Also, the plug in the metering head use to be a small plastic thingy which you just prised out with your fingers (yellow or red in colour), only time you should need to drill it out is if someone or something has pushed it down the tube

Yes - I think you're right.
I'm getting confused with my Nitro RC car. That is clockwise to lean the mixture!

Found it but me bloody allen keys ain't long enough. :dontknow: Looks like it will be down to halfords tomorrow again.
Could this be why when I pull away in first unless I use lots of revs it likes to kangeroo. 8O

A garage left a hand made adjuster in my car once. It's an allen key bent straight with a rod welded on the end to make it even longer!

Bit of a long shot, but… friends GTI was doing that recently - turned out one of the vacuum hoses had come off dizzy. Worth checking connections for air leaks.

Anyone know if you can still get those little plastic caps that block the hole?

Mine ain't got a cap on anyway. Once adjusted will have to try and look for something to fit over the top.

I think it's more than a straightened allen key.
I think it's supposed fit to into the hole so it also blocks the hole to stop more air getting in?
Mind you I have put my finger over the hole with engine running and theres no real difference.
