Cam cover.

Is is possible to remove the lower cam cover with the fan belt and wheels still in place.

Problem is I think my oil leak is coming from behind here but can't get in there to have a look. If I remove the fan belt etc I won't be able to start the car to see where it is leaking from.

Any suggestions.

You can leave the wheel on but it?s not a very DIY friendly design. :(  You need to remove the ?fan? belt and then remove the belt pulley. This is held to the cambelt cog/crank with 4 Allen socket headed bolts. They are invariable T.A.F  8O and round off. If and when you get this off the lower plastic cover is held on with a few nuts/bolts but one is recessed down a very narrow hole that 90% of sockets won?t reach :banghead: . If it is leaking down there you should be able to see where it?s coming from without running the engine.  :dontknow: To replace the seal I think you need to remove bolt that holds the cog to the crank and its V.V.T.A.F. needing scaffolding poles as extensions to your socket.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Right then onwards and upwards will get the belt of and the cog trying not to round of the bolts and then take it from there.

If I can find out where its coming from at least if I have to get a garage to do it I ain't going to get ripped off if I tell um where its coming from. :|
