Broke my dizzy?
Hi there,
what started as just changing the coolant has ended in me possibly wrecking my dizzy!!! Effing 'mare! Changed it all, and whilst the rad was out had a spot of a clean. Put it all back together fine n dandy and then the car wouldn't start. The only thing I could think was the dizzy got wet. So started playing with that and long story short, tried to pull the socket off and the hole thing came away…like so…
Is this fixable? N even then, where could the dizzy have got wet that I haven't been able to dry to get it started?

Bad news mate. Always gutting when that kind of thing happens.
Time you started looking at the breakers mate. There's a couple of cars here that could be useful.

Thanks for the conformation T. It was my gut feeling and saw one complete on ebay so got that for a tenner which isn't too shabby. Fitting doesn't look as easy as I thought it would be though…looking at it I may as well change the timing belt and check all the timing at the same time. Logical?

if you look at the dizzy shaft theres a circlip, remove that then carefully lever up the trigger window using 2 screwdrivers. try not to bend the window! then its a couple screws to remove the hall sender
you might even be able to repair that one once its out a you'll have better access, but id just get a new one

Cheers John. I've got a whole new dizzy coming, so do you reckon it's easier to replace the whole thing or just the sender?

easier to just change the whole thing! you can always remove the hall sender from the old one later to get some practice, then rebuild it and keep as spare
