Annoying Oil Light problem!
Soz to be a pain in the arse but I need to get this sorted!
I've got a 93 Vento 1.8 (ABS Engine) and a few days ago the oil warning light and alarm kept coming on intermittently, Theres plenty of oil in the car, its not that old (about 2500miles) and the car does not tap or rattle or overheat.
I'm pretty sure oil is getting around the engine as I know what a dry head sounds like.
I've replaced both sensors on the oil filter housing and both terminals are in good condition and not corroded.
Today the light and warning comes on constantly after i start her up, but only if i take it over about 2200rpm, if i keep below that it stays quiet??
I've disconnected both sensors and the problem is exactly the same.
I'm guessing the next step is to get the oil system pressure tested, but a VW technician said I should try changing the oil and using a genuine VW filter as some aftermarket filters have issues with the pressure system.
Has anyone had similar problems as i've seen a few US vw drivers that have had similar probs, but i didnt find any solutions…….
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
