3rd time, everytime! (starting the engine)

People,
not really a big issue but something thats playing on my mind and wondered if anyone has had the same problem.

From cold my Gti starts like a beauty, but when shes warm the first 2 attempts to start her wont catch and it sounds like the starter motor disconnects itself. You get the horrible noise of when you were a newb driver and you keep the key turned too long on the ignition (Maybe that was just me :dontknow: )

But on the third it always fires up, which i cant really complain about, im just getting a bit picky i suppose.

suppose the obvious one is to get a new starter motor and the haynes doesnt shed too much light on my problem, just thought id better check before riping bit out of her

Sounds like starter engagement is not working properly - I'd try another starter - get one from a scrappy - an earlier Mk2 one should fit.

If you can't find one I have used ones in stock.
