16v kr engine cuts out at running temp?

hi all,just wondered if any one can shed some light on my little problem.I have a 16v kr engine in my cabby,it runs perfect from cold,just before it gets up to running temp it will start running high like the choke is on,then just as it hits running temp the overheating light on the dash will start to flash and engine will then start to hunt and try cut out every time i pull up to traffic lights,you can also smell overfueling inside the car,just thought its realy strange how the over heating light flashes every time it starts to idle poorly,any help would be great,thx all
