1.8t headbolts issue....

long story hopefully cut short!! i bought a cheap 1.8t engine, loom and gearbox which i thought was an AGU but turned out to be an APU from a passat/a4. after stripping the engine i soon realised the block was knackered but the head, turbo etc were ok. i managed to source a short block on the cheap which was from an AGU……so im trying to mate the APU head with the AGU block but have realised that there maybe some problems with this such as headbolts for an AGU and APU are different in length and thread.

has anybody tried or done something similar and got around these issues?

any tips would be great!
