Question is, which pipe goes where? I can't tell if the vacuum is working when it's hot so thought I'd ask some experts. Should the air redirect be connected to the one at the front or the back?
How do I test if it's working and fix it if it's not?
The part i mean - on the side of the carb air intake. When I got it they were fitted as pictured so I've left them like that. Not sure it's right or not!

You have them the wrong way around in your picture, the hot air re-direct at the front of the extension pipe goes to the front input.
Star. Thanks!

It's a vacuum so does it matter, both pipes see the vacuum either connection?
I think it does as the air intake has a heat sensor that if working, should send the vacuum to the sir intake to close a flap, so it takes hot air from the engine - then when it's up to temp, the sensor opens and the vacuum is applied to the intake, not the air redirect, Allowing it to take in cold air to the engine
