I have just set up the engine in the garden and got the engine running for the first time in at least a year, with a set of carbs that have been dormant for 6 years! Anyway, does anyone know the best thing to do with the crank case breather? Obviously it needs a small vacuum, but where from? I have no air box, obviously!

Is there no outlet on the Carb manifold??
If not run it to a breather box or filter/catch tank??

Yeah it has a vacuum outlet for the advance, but the breather only needs a small vacuum! Might just get a shiny catch tank instead!

The engine is running well Mr Cavs!

You said that you thought it was a 1.8, where did you get the thought from? The crank and pistons weren't swapped were they?

I was told it was a 1.8 by the previous owner.
Couldn't tell you if they were swapped.  :ocf_emoticons__dontknow:
