tick over problem

Hi guys

ive got a 1980 1600 GLI

Hd it out today for the 1st time in ages….runs great but tick over was a little low

nipped into tesco for 10 mins when we came out it started fine….ran great but wouldnt tick over  :?  :?

any one got any ideas ????

try a tweak of the idle screw. could be the oring needs replacing whip it out and replace. i bought a big box of random orings and fitted the closest match

hello mate , try the replaceing the o ring like he said then adjusting the carb if the idle screw isnt making any difference when you turn it  to tune the carb.

my car was running really dogey and it wernt the carb though i had it tuned , have a look at the distributor cap and leads to see if its badly corroded but mainly as with the problem i had the whole distributor had or in ur case could of turnt so slightly while being clamped down under the u bracket with vibration or loose bolt and this could of put the running out big time just a idea.

obviously timming needs to be right omoungths over things , who ever set my distributor had it wrong from day one since i had i cant even hear the exhaust purring rough at all now good times

oh yeah and check spark plugs for bad condition???

let me know if this works or if you cure it?
