So here`s the problem.Driving home tonight cabby (1.8 Carb) starts stuttering at low revs like fuel starvation then as the revs lower the car just cuts out any advice would be great
Ps looked at the carb and its got a bit of movement on the manifold is this meant to be like this ? Also looks like the gasket is out of position
Cheers Alan

Mine moves as well, its on a rubber bush. Check your fuel filter, could easily be something as simple as a blocked one! If Its Ok I would take the fuel line off the carb and try turning it over, see if its pumping fuel or not, obviously get a rag or something to stop it going places! I have had this a few times, first time it was a cruddy coil, second i had accidently messed the idle mixture so it was rich (only effects starting though), and recently it was simply a blocked filter and fuel starvation! Just a few things to try, it its pumping Ok then go from there!

The rubber gasket which the carb sits on can split, gives more movement in the carb side to side and air gets into the system and the mixture is weaker, try running the car and move the carb carfully to the left and right, see if the idle changes.
