Squeaks from alternator/fan belt

Hi, i have some squeaking from my alternator/fan belt area. Can you spray some lubricant on the whole area to help?

You can buy a spray to put on the belt, but the price you pay for it, you may aswell buy a new belt, cheap as chips
may be coming from alternator or water pump bearing, have you tested either apart from belt?

no i havnt, are you suggesting taking off the belt and running the engine to hear if there is any squeaks from the pulleys?

Yes, Remove fan belt, to eliminate the alternator simply cut a leg off a pair of tights, wrap it round the crank and water pump pulley and turn over engine, if noise is no longer, it's either the fan belt or alternator.
Check for cracks on the belt, if it hasn't been changed for a while, change it.
Do this after the tight test, therefore it will save you forking out for alternator.
