pierburg 1b3 vacuum routing

Hi there,

Does anyone have a pic or two of the vacuum hose routing on this one ? Removed carb from car to clean up, and by the time I was to put it back in I had forgot…

There are two  hoses from the black thingie at the back of the carb one goes into the short knee shaped hose on the back, no ? And the second one ?, and thenthe long pipe from the back of the carb.

Guess the front hose goes to the dizzie ?

And what with the vacuum reservoir and the T and that valve ? Aaah, what a mess. Any help deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Hi, My 89 Clipper was a VW label stuck to the
underside of the bonnet lid. Not really obvious
unless you are looking for it.

If you can't find it, I think I could email you a
layout from the 2E2 manual.
Keep smiling, J.

As far as I can work out this for manual gearbox 1b3

… and this for auto 1b3

You can acces these diagrams and more at http://www.vagcat.com/

Some good 2e2 diagrams here (although probably not much use to you) http://www.ltn.lv/~jj/pierburg2e2.html

Thanks for the input, the diagrams from Vagcat is a goldmine. I think I hooked it up right, but it still wont fire up…

Only thing I'm unsure of is the black plastic part at the back, wich outlet goes straight into the other pipe on the carb body, the upper or the lower ? No clear in illustrations.

Thanks,

You mean the black plastic unit on the rear/right of the carb with hose exiting the top? It goes to the lower nozzle on the rear of the carb - number 5 in the below diagram….

…from http://www.ltn.lv/~jj/pierburg2e2.html

The upper connection goes (via a T connection) to a small square thermo regulator on the back of the carb.
