Oil Pressure Light Flashing
I've just bought my first GTi convertible (1985) and drove it back last night. The oil pressure light (red one with the oil can logo - I assume it's the oil pressure light) is constantly flashing. I've checked the oil levels and they're fine, is there a likely cause of the problem other than oil pump failure?
I've got no manuals for it and have ordered a Haynes manual, are there any other manuals that people recommend? Also, is there a recommended place to get them, I'd like to get an owners manual.
Many thanks

Rich.

theres a short in the wire normally. i've still not traced mine though. it's been doing it for about 5 years.
keep an eye on your oil levels.
rumour has it from anouther member that it might also be a short on the board on the back of the clocks. i've not looked into that yet but it's beleivable.

A) Magic smoke dragon has died - yes the one that creates all the magic smoke inside all your electrical components. Think Crazy Quiff sells these for about £6,000,000 but you have to fit it yourself.
B) The existence of another component is directly affecting the behaviour of the flashing light, being: The nose on your face. Direct extract from the Haynes Manual 1974-1984 Mk1 Golf /Jetta: "as long as you have a nose on your face the light will flash"
Hope that helps,
oh ive got the flashing light too btw.
