mk1 golf cabrio clipper

Hi there,
I'm a new member and i have a 87 golf cabrio clipper. I've got a problem with my car thats just a bit too much. It starts fine but when drive for about 5-10 minutes it just cuts out and i then have to wait another couple of minutes for it to start. I've changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, ignition coil, ignition module and nothing seems to be working.
Do you think it can be an electrical problem.

i have the same problem, when i cut out it can be when the clutch is dipped or it can be in gear and starts running on three cylinders and then 2 cylinders until you have to pull over, start again 3 mins later and all ok for another 10 miles.

i have changed the following:

distributor cap
spark plugs
ht leads
ignition coil
ignition module

i have checked the following:

fuel tank clean
fuel lines clean
fuel filter clean
carbureter clean

Still can find the problem. does yours misfire sometimes and run on less cylinders? or is it just when you dip the clutch?

Anyone any ideas?

Carb icing.
Check the heater hose to the airbox from the exhaust manifold cover.
Also read up on the heater that sits inside the inlet manifold, there's a wire to it in the back of the inlet manifold.
