Rich - saw your post on deano's thread.

I'd also check the fuel pump delivery and for blocked fuel pipes - causing fuel starvation.

Crazy.. do you know the correct layout for the vacume house and fuel lines when a webber is fitted.
When i got the car the fuel return line was blocked off, since i have put a fuel seperator off a mk2 on it (the thing the bolts on the the rocker cover studs) to bring the fuel return line into play! Should i have done this???

soz - don't know the fuel layout - you might block off the return for a quick drive and see if that sorts your problem - might help narrow down the problem

I got this responce on cgti

As it's a carb, I'd put an outside bet on the coolant channel o-ring being blocked. That tends to cause problems in all gears though. Does pulling the choke help at all?

any idea where that o ring is???

I had similar probs on mine when it was a 1300cc on a carb.

Blocked the fuel return and it was all sorted. If you want the peace of mind of having the fuel return in place, perhaps you could look at regulating the flow return with an adjustable valve or something?
