HELP NEEDED!!!

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a MK1 Cabriolet and the engine didnt run, there was no spark! since then i have changed the ignition module and then the distributor cap that had a hole the size of a 10p in it!! Anyway we now have a spark but the engine will not fire we have timed it up correctly and checked the compression from the cylinders which is spot on.

we then noticed that the spark plugs were dry as a bone so we assumed the carb was blocked, we removed this and sprayed some easy start and the engine still does not fire!

What else can we try?

have you pulled off the fuel pipe from the carb and then turned the engine  over? just to see if you get squirts of petrol.

have you checked the ht leads make sure they all on correct cylinders for firing ?
