hedgehog?

anyone know where the wire from this goes to in the car? mine isnt getting any power at the moment but before i start ripping the car apart id like an idea as to where it goes.

91 clipper cab btw

aparently there is a wire from the back of this that goes into the car (so i have been told and can see it) its quite thick aswell.

I'm trying to think which bit looks like a hedgehog!!!…….

Is it under the the bonnet?

yep its under the bonnet (you have a gti so it may well be different) its a heating element in the manifold when you take the carb off and look into the manifold its like a load of little spikes in there. (i got told it was called a hedgehog)

I have a bunny rabbit - near the car - but it has no wires???

It is a heater to warm the fuel/air mix,the wire goes to a relay in the fusebox,it is controlled by a temp sender on the water circuit,its a alloy tube with 2 sensors in it,usually by the side of the carb in the water hose,my GX has one  :wink:

thanks bert. was just about to post up some very blurry pics aswell. saves me the embaressment of showing my poor photography skills.

Remember to check the voltage, when the car is cold. The hedgehog switches off when warm. The temp sensor is fitted on water inlet top hose flange. There should be two but i cant remeber which one.
