engine keeps cutting out

this isn't a problem i have but i met this guy who works at a car wash and parked up is his clipper he told me hes had the car only 2 weeks but it keeps cutting out he feels its a fuel prob the fuel is getting to a small filter just before what looks like a pump, sorry about this but i only know the gti system any help would be good that i can pass on will give him site details so we should get a new member.
