Engine cut out!

hi,
does anyone know why a 1989 1.8 cabrio would just cut out when driving along. its not carb freezing up, change fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, coil. when it stops i leave it go for a minute and it goes again for a few hundred metres and cuts again.

any suggestions? cheers.

Have you checked the fuel sender, has a filter on the end. While you taking a look also look to see if any debris in the bottom of the tank.
Also do you know when the fuel filler neck was last replaced?

I'm having the same trouble with my 1990 1.8 clipper. Ive changed the carb, carb flange, checked in the tank, which is clean. Still the same!

The filler neck on mine looks pretty rusty but inside the tank is spotless.

I also have the same problem at the moment, have changed fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel vapour seperator (resevoir/fuel return thingy) but it still won't keep running.

Has anyone found a cure??  I have a 85 1.6 cabrio

Here is a simple tests you carry out

Drive the car , when it cuts out look quickly at the revcounter , if it drops to zero as soon as the car cuts out

ITS AN IGNITION PROBLEM CAUSING YOUR FAULT

If it stays on you have a fuel fault .

First person who cuts out report back !!!
