2e2 frustration!

Post

I have recently (just) installed a new 2e2, it has many more wires than my current one and worked just fine straight away! However it still has the EXACT same problems as my previous one….the 3/4 unit isn't extending, and the stage 2 vacuum is no existent. Now I do not believe this is pure coincidence! I have followed the diagrams and it is set up as it should be, just like the last one was but it refuses to work! The 2e2 help page doesn't seem to help either…

Any ideas?

hmm check the vacuum feeds to the non-return valve and the inlet manifold plus gaskets are ok, seems like you have weak vacuum? is the green ball ok and not split?

The piping is all new fresh stuff and the ball is fine! I also have a vacuum gauge and the vacuum is good…really frustrated with it now :(

put the gauge on the vacuum 2 pipe, see how it is at idle and when flooring it

I have done that and there's no vacuum at all :( I pit the old carb on and used the choke from the new one and the choke works and the 3/4 now works, still no stage 2 :/

worst case you could just bin it and put a strong spring on there instead...

Have you checked that the stage 2 is getting vacuum. What I mean is, could the vacuum outlet to it be blocked? Or is the unit itself broken.  Does it work if you suck on it

Thats what I mean, it isn't getting a vacuum…If I attach another vacuum it opens and she flies, but the valve wont shut again causing a 2-3000rpm idle! The vacuum on both carbs is not bocked, I find it hard to believe that they both have the same issue…
