1.5 auto cutting out......again

Post

Areet everyone, right I've put on a brand spanking new weber carb from crazy quiffs, set it all up, and the car runs class when it's stationary, you can rev it nee bother, then when you go to drive it, as soon as you touch the throttle it dies, will start straight back up again and then you can't touch the throttle or it cuts out, as if the vac advance is intermittently working. But sometimes it's fine, which would suggest to me that it's summit to do with….,well actually, I don't know, I've tried everything I can think of.

It's a 1.5 auto, now on manual choke. Has anyone had a similar problem?? I'm getting to the end of my tether with it now, but I don't wanna lose faith. I'm supposed to be using it for my mates wedding next week but it looks like it is t going to happen cos I just don't trust it if I'm honest.

One thing is that when I spoke to rich at quiffs, he said that the vac advance unit should only have 1 outlet, mine has two which according to him is off a gti with fuel injection. And I have both pipes connected up, the rear of the vac unit to the servo pipe and the front to a t piece going from the carb.

I've tried the vac unit by sucking the pipe and it appears to work like. The other thing is I have a line back to tank in the fuel supply, but it is restricted, it's new fuel pipe like but the restriction takes the bore down to about 3mm dia, and the supply is about twice that, so it shouldn't be getting starved of fuel. Rich suggested a line direct to the carb and doing away with the return, is this safe to do i.e over fuelling the chamber?? I would of thought if it was fuel starvation then it wouldn't start at all??

If anyone has any ideas then please speak up, much appreciated!
