Duly updated! It means a lot, to beat wooders.
a whole 3 100ths of a second lol!! i think with enough effort i could get into the very low 16's or even into the 15's as the engine sits. but in a few more weeks she will be running alot quicker!

Winning ugly's better than losing pretty. Don't forget, that wooders tried and tried and tried, he had about 20 runs or so, and that was his best time. Rumour has it it was a boggo standard 1.8 GTI, so it serves as our benchmark.

Probably a typo or printing error on the timeslip. I have known there to be errors every now and again. 91mph terminal speed, normally equates to 14.5-15.0 sec 1/4 mile times.

my civic vti passed at 91 mph and ran 15.2's which was quick for civics at crail,
the surface at crail sucks compared to other spots but is an amazing day out!!
SPEAKING OF WHICH……..
i just got back from a days racing only put a half day in as my ignition coil died, managed to get a civic 95 reg one and chopped and fiddled and got it on my car and it made rthe 168 mile journey home absolutely perfect! lol
but anyway, the main part……… 15.1 seconds will get the exact figure when i get home to get the time slip, its a 1.8 16v KR full ashley system inc. manifold lightened flywheel,
and polybushed, lowered, oh and nothing in but 2 seats and carpets!
was well happy with it!

I've updated the list. lhasadreams, if you can confirm your 1/4 mile time of 14.9 secs to more decimal places and you're quicker (we're into the hundreths!) I can update as needs be!

Following from a suggestion on http://www.vwgolfmk1.o…iewtopic&t=43032&start=20, here is the official Mk1 Golf Owners club 1/4 mile sprint league table. The rules are simple:
1. It must be a Mk1 Golf.
2. The time must be done at a recognised facility with accurate timing gear, eg sprint runs at a show such as GTI Festival, GTI Inters or another RWYB day.
3. We'll take it on good faith about times but if anyone questions it, then we'd need to see a scan of the timing slip, etc.
I appreciate many members aren't into sprinting (or breaking their cars!) but hopefully it will prove useful, since it always provides some entertainment value and can serve as an inspiration to possible future mods, also it will be a useful reference for what 'package' of mods work/don't work in improving performance.
THE LEAGUE TABLE
1. 13.76x ……………… Grover
2. 13.908 ……………… Flathead
3. 14.08x ……………… dub76
4. 14.15x ……………… paul_c
