Its a 1.8 KR straight from my old corrado with a port and a polish on the head. love the sound of the carbs especially under load.
The filters were of ebay bud,3bbbmotors I beleive the seller was.
they,re zx9-r carbs but with no trumpets in, so when I get the cash I'l put a sausage style filter on I think.

Been hard at it today…
Its been raining all day here but was so bored I got wet through!
Had to swap the brake fluid reservoir first, I'd sealed the corrados tee off for the clutch master cylinder but not very well so I whipped the one off the scrapped syncro I have. Lot cleaner looking one plus my repair to the Corrados hadnt exactly worked. Hate brake fluid! Always messy and we know what stray drips can be like to paintwork
They've bled up lovely though. Then I tried to set the coilys but the driveways none to even so just matched the platform heights from the start of the thread for now.
Fixed the wretched battery charge light..just bad contacts.
rebuilt the dash including the lower pockets…way hey looks like a car!
Managed to free off the old handbrake cables, they've been annoying. I reckon they've been on from new! one birdcaged the other day. I'l fit the new one tomorrow.
JUst need to grab two of those little clips that secure the interior door handle tomorrow, I beleive theyre only pence.
A wing mirror and number plate light and its mot time!
A couple of new pics nicer lower!! those tyres need to go though!
look like defender tyres in this shot
Maybe a little lift eh?
I know the camber looks way off, its not its just the way the pic came out..
Thanks for reading!

Looking good now, get some stretched, ish tires on those bbs, and get it a little lower will look sweet 8)
You will have to let me know how the 16v in a mk1 feels, as you will be on the road soon
Keep it up.

looking forward to the B roads now. they're pretty good round here.
Think I might refurb those BBS as the weathers just appalling here.
Got a spare set of RX(I think they're called) the one's from the mk2.
I'l give them a lick of paint and use them as winter wheels.
What would you think for dish and tyre combo's?
I'm not too familiar with stretch and what'l fit, I'd prefer not to play with the arches too much til I'm certain how or who to use?
I think the rear arches could stand a little more width on the rim's
and would like a sensible amount of stretch and not too much sidewall.
cheers bud, I can think about wheels and things at last! 8O
I'd forgotten about that after all this time the grubby side!!

Wheels wise rm's always look good on a mk1, front I would probaly leave stock width, so they don't stick out, not a lot of room width wise in the mk1 front arches. Out the back I reckon a 8", or 8.5" would look good maybe a spacer depending on the offset of the wheels, and if the arche lips are trimmed.
I don't know loads about bbs, but if they are stock widths im guessing 6.5" to 7", just get some outer lips to get to say 7", 7.5" front, and 8, 8.5" out back.
You could just get a tape measure out and see where the lips sit now against the arches and see what size lips would take you near or just past the arches.
Tires wise if you want a good stance and want to run it low with no rubbing, its going to have to have a bit of stretch, down side is this somtimes means using average tryes because of the sizes needed. I have a set of ronals with the correct size toyos for hard use, other wise I will be rolling on my spilts with stretched tryes, but just don't expect it to handle or grip as well as a correctly sized trye.
Stretch wise i've only had two sets of stretched tyres as it were. There is a site with loads of pics of different stretches and it shows you the rim width and trye size, but I can't find it, think its called somthing like stretched tryes.co.uk, or tyre stretch, or something have a search.
I have 175 50's stretch on 7.5" and 8" bit too much stretch on the rear maybe, but oh well
On my daily mk2 I have 195 40's on a 7.5", and it gives a nice little stretch.
For your i'm thinking fronts 7" with a 165, or 175 50, and for the rears 8", or 8.5" a 195 45/50, this will give a good bit of stretch without going mental.
Ask around tho lots of poeple are running stretch tyres etc.
Phew! I started going off on one there lol!
Cheers

Need to start learning these things really, what you recommend sounds good, think I'l leave my winter wheels on the tyres I've got just for now.
(budgets more stretched than your tyres at the mo )
and set about refurbing these RM's, They're 6 1/2 inch wide as standard.
Its cheaper to fit fresh rims to them than buy a cheap set of replicas.
when I look at the car from the back I reckon a bit wider with stretch would look fantastic! I need to find out which tyre manufacturer makes what really. I really am quite thick when it comes to these bits. :dontknow:
Go off on one whenever you like dude! your help is very much appreciated! I think I've found the site your talking about, tyrestretch.com I beleive. now I'm going off on one!

Yeah thats the site I was on about.
I left a post about those clips you were looking for in my build tread.
Tyre wise, well nankangs aren't great, ok in the dry, but pootang in the wet, but on the upside they make a varity of different sizes good for stretching and are cheap.
Really its what size you are after, and then picking the best trye in that size, and at a price you don't mind paying. The narrower tyre you want, usualy the harder it is to get a decent one as its not really a "sports" wheel size, if you get what I mean.
I know its a bit played out, but what about colour coded centers?
HTH.

The tyre research has started!
you know what I really think it'd look cool on colour coded wheels but beleive it or not I was actually given those wheels and my mate said "as long as you dont paint the centres!"
Philestein!
Was thinking about the full polish or I can wait til he goes in the raf and just paint em!!
I think it'd suit the car.
might have a play with photoshop see if I can convince him its no bad thing.
Thanks again bud!

Still got an annoying problem with the dash. The oil light is a permanent fixture, regardless of unplugging it from the switch etc…unless I've got the wrong wire on it or faulty switch??
And the charging light only goes out after some heavy revving, then when everything settles down its back on??
Very strange cos the first time I started it no problem? unless they just werent working at first??
Doing my head in!! electric never was my thing.
Oh and pete would you beleive I cant find that clip on vagcat? It only states for the early strap type. The joys of modding old dubs eh??

I know your all gonna proclaim…"whadda numpty!)
But I've not connected the low pressure sender as I beleived it was a sender for oil pressure, I know know the black switch is indeed the low pressure switch.
I'l try it tomorrow and hopefully my oil light woes are over!!
Just this damned battery light now..any ideas?? could it be the regulator do we think??

Old Timer
Oil switches ehh, yellow on the front, (High Pressure switch, 1.8 bar)
And, Blue/black stripe on the back, (Low pressure switch, 0.3 bar)
Not too sure on the alternator issue, maybe check that the thin blue wire going from battery + terminal is connected properly to the alternator, if not connected the alternator won't charge the battery, and that could be why that light is coming on.
When its going to be on the road?

We'l be on here gushing about how great it is and folk'l get sick of us.
Just pottering around the old girl now, trying desperatly to find a job to do.
Just going through things like grotty window scraper seals, stonechips etc..
I'm missing the backplate from my n/s mirror too. Cant find them anywhere so might just get some black flags instead.
Was given some M3 style rear lenses yesterday. Put them on and they're a little too new if you know what I mean? but my old ones leaked like mad. nearly bought a goldfish!!
Was thinking about lamin-x?? Red? Smoked? cant find enough pic's to decide..would love all red but pink reverse lights??

Really liking your thread, i'm doing the same except my conversion was already done, just needed new head/block so i'm currently stripping down and sourcing new parts to put back together, i have twin webers though!!
good luck and keep updating,
