Subject: cabby dilemma advice required
Hello helpful Mk1 owners
I currently own a 1988 Karmann clipper cabby, i would be very greatful for some advice regarding my dilemma.
The car is in very good condition not concours but very good, & as far as i can tell 99.9 percent standard & original, the interior needs a clean but otherwise is immaculate, 73K miles which is backed by every MOT from new, the service history is extensive with full VAG history from new untill 2003, after that lots of bills/receipts, car was SORN from 2004-2008, engine & box in perfect working order.
My dilemma, the car cost me very little to purchase, i have spent ?1K on new tyres, brakes bits & bobs etc, however the bad points, the scuttle panel under the windscreen needs some welding, & the small amount of surface rust (& it is only surface rust) will need sorting+ small amount of work on front & rear bumpers, the wheels will also need refurbing at a total cost of ?1200, as I am going to be selling the car on is it worth doing the work?
A few people i have spoken to think the car could make ?4-?4500, I think this is wildly inflated, some advice from people with a better idea than myself would be greatly appreciated.

I recently sold a near mint 1990 cab for ?1900 86k almost full history
If your expecting ?2-3k it needs to mint, low miles or a sportline or rivage.
Good luck with the sale but i have a feeling you will be keeping it.

thanks guys, being a complete Mk1 novice i have had a look at the logbook & found that indeed it is a GTI, badged as Karmann & not clipper, & after inspecting under the bonnet it does indeed appear to have injecters, will this make a difference in resale value compared to the clipper model as in my first post?
lol how do you not know what car you own?
