maybe the new tires sidewall bulges out a bit further? IDK
can you get the wheel mounted then let the car down to see if the rub persists once the suspension is loaded?

thats assuming of course that you have 2-5mm to spare at the outside of the wheel; and you should.

Have you checked the clearance of your original wheels. I know they didn't rub (have you checked the inner edge of the tyre?) but if they too were only within 2mm, this could be dangerous. the whole system will flexx more than that under heavy cornering.
Seems a little strange as the bigger the offset number, the closer the tyres will be to the suspension.
Hope you find a suitable fix.

at this point it could also be camber. can you see any positive or negative camber on the fronts?
