Good speakers?

Good speakers?

I've been listening to my music through those stupid speakers in the front of a mk1 (standard speakers from new 8O ) so ive decided to get some more speakers

but i know different speakers are better for different music, so what type/make are speakers are best for heavy metal music (for all of you into good music, bands like slayer etc)

in other words, speakers that can cope with high complex music

finally, whats the max size in the front pods, and the rears

Thanks

a speaker is a speaker! they dont make music specific speakers! its the way you set the amp up that alters the way you hear the music! If you want high quality sound you need high quality components! If youre intending chopping your parcel shelf to bits, 6 x 9s would probably do fine for the back and 6's in the front! a decent amp is important too!!

8O  If ya gonna be listening to slayer, Motorhead, Van Halen and such like surely personal hygene and a hair cut and looser fitting jeans should be higher on the wants list?

But…..Kenwood, JBL and Mac Audio do an upgrade for the oval mk1 side rear shelf and early door pocket type speakers and Alpine and Pioneer do the round ones for later cabby doors

i have opted not to keep the rear speakers connected … you can get perfectly fine image dynamics by just using a front setup , Boston acoustics do a good little set of front door pocket speakers but the metal bucket has to be modified to be a snug fit without  mutilating the holder..

you can find them on CAD Car audio direct

and for some midrange and front bass which if you enjoy tunes and not really inot installing a badboy sub , is made custom carped boxes that fit well under the front seats and these have 7inch components in them , and linked to tweeters through the crossovers

running all this extra speakerage i have an amp hidden in the boot , only a tidy alpine

but it gives me all the volume and depth that i would ever want

don't 6x9's they are pant's

I need new speakers too…mine are terrible. I can't get enough bass through them, and I've only got front speakers.

BUT, there seems to be a place behind the rear door trims that once held speakers. Does anyone know what size would fit in there? And also, a decent speaker that I won't have to customise to fit into the front 6 inch slots.

(and X, good choice in music)

You can get some 4" ones in there, little fiddly to fit, but worth it..
I put them in my cab, sounds good but tinny, however the previous owner had already cut up the parcel shelf so i ended up sticking in some 6x9 in there with a hlafords special ?100 bass tube and amp in the boot..
sounds great, including all rock from guns n roses to new heavy stuff liek system of a down etc..
Only big issue witht he cab is when you put the roof down, muffles sound from the shelf…

I looked on ebay and bought my speaker set up, ovals for front door card and small 4" for rears from there, good make for around ?60 the set..

Quality or volume?

bi amped?

powered cap?

sub or no sub?

sensitivity?

cheap but with a decent volume / quality id say check out the FLI range, as car speakers go they arnt too expensive, the quality is there and the sensitivity is pretty dammed fine also. plus they do a full range, so you can have it all matching if you wish.

edit: but there head units are a bit naff.

as strange as it may seem, fast car mag and max power usually have very comprehensive write-ups on whats available in the audio market! not just whats the most expensive but they cover components for all sizes of bank account!

This is all good. My Rivage had the parcel shelf alteration and it always annoyed me that I had to change the fader and miss some bass by moving the sound to the front.

DISCLAIMER: I am a speaker/amp nuffy!

So, I ask this question: would it be worth my while getting an amp in the boot and some 4 inch speakers for the back seat panels or is the amp pointless with that size speaker?

Those Clarion speakers are really cheap! I wonder if I can get them as cheap here in frog-land.

For music-lovers using iTunes or WinAmp, go here:

Android Apps on Google Play

- download the software
- request to access my iTunes library by inviting me: missmoopants
- enjoy 6,644 songs (20 days' worth) from my collection!

Easy as. You don't get access to the files themselves, but you get to pick your own playlist from music that isn't yours - like a personal radio station.

Hell we always get complaints at work for having a bit of Guns n Roses, AC/DC and a few other choice cd's blasting out of the valet bay……….the main complaints come when Cowboys from Hell comes on
